One Book, One County

Thursday, April 11

This year's One Book, One County pick is Tony's Wife by bestselling author Adriana Trigiani. Our Book Club will be participating by reading Tony's Wife for our March 19 meeting.

Ms. Trigiani, is scheduled to be in Montgomery County on Thursday, April 11 at 2:00 pm at Ursinus College’s Bomberger Auditorium in Collegeville or at 7:00 pm at Keneseth Israel Synagogue in Elkins Park. Her two appearances are the main feature of the fourth annual ONE BOOK, ONE COUNTY community wide event hosted by Montgomery County Libraries. Book sale and signing to follow both events.

Like art? Help us create the sets for our May Drama Club production of The Snow Queen! We need artists in grades 5-12. No experience or special talent necessary, but wear old clothes- we will be painting. Led by Miss Jeanne. Session 3 out of 4.

Are you looking for a job? Do you need resume help? Come to this information session to learn about all of the e-resources we have to help you find job openings, write your resume and cover letter, research companies, practice interviewing, and more! We will show you how to access them through the library website and answer any questions you may have.

Longwood Gardens Community Read

The sixth annual Community Read is being celebrated from now through May! Join libraries and other organizations in the area that are hosting events to encourage reading for fun.

Our Adult Book Club will be discussing The Triumph of Seeds by Thor Hanson on Tuesday, April 16 @ 6:30 pm. Ask at the front desk if you need to request a copy of the book. No registration is required.

Sowing & Sharing the Seeds of Spring

Wednesday, April 24 @ 7:00 pm

Join us for an evening of "garden talk" as we discuss our favorite plants and what's new in the garden for this year. Have too much of a certain plant or seeds? Participate in an exchange! Learn of efforts to reintroduce a disease-resistant American Chestnut. Once the dominant species in our eastern hardwood forests, only the "grey ghosts" of 4 billion trees remain.

Open and free to the public.

Friends of the Library Used Book Sale

Friday April 26 - Saturday May 4, during normal library hours

All proceeds of this fabulous used book sale go directly to The Upper Perkiomen Valley Library! Most books are $.50-$1.00. Children's, teen, and adult titles in paperback and hardcover will be on sale. We'll also have DVDs, audiobooks, music CDs, and puzzles. It's the best deal in town!

Friday the 3rd and Saturday the 4th will be the $4 brown bag sale.

Along the Perkiomen Railroad

Saturday, April 27 @ 11:00 am

Travel with the Perkiomen Railroad Historical Society along the Perkiomen railroad. Historical presentation and slideshow followed by footage filmed along the Perkiomen in the late 40s and mid 50s. Everyone is encouraged to bring artifacts, photos, or personal stories to share!


Tuesday, April 30 @ 6:00 pm

Practice yoga with certified instructor Eileen Turner. This class is appropriate for all skill levels. Bring a mat and water bottle. Give $5 per person at the door as a donation to the library. Pre-registration requested, but not required.

Tax Information

The IRS is no longer supplying bulk shipments of tax forms. We did receive a limited supply of the new 1040 booklets and instructions, which can be picked up in the Reference Room. If you would like to print tax forms from the IRS website, you can do so at the library for 15 cents a page. We cannot offer tax advice, but we can try to help you find the information and assistance you need.
