Summer Reading Club 2022

This year's Summer Reading Club theme is Oceans of Possibilities!
We are thrilled to welcome families back into the library for a full range of summer reading activities between June 11 – August 13, 2022. We will not offer online logs this year. If your child is under 3, ask about our Baby Shark Club. Adults can participate by filling out reviews at the library to try to win gift cards and Longwood Garden passes.

Children ages 3-18 should register after June 11th at the UPV Library to receive a bag with reading logs and other information. Record minutes read on the reading log. For every 2 hours of reading you will earn a ticket for prize buckets and a bead for your brag necklace. (Receive your brag necklace after you've logged your first 2 hours of reading. Earn beads to add throughout the summer.) Prizes will be on display at the library. Tickets can be put in corresponding buckets by young readers who hope to win the prize at the end of the summer. Teens can enter to win straight cash!

Here is a list of special summer activities for children (held at the library unless otherwise noted):

Weekly drop-in activities include the prize machine, finding Swishy the Fishy, make & take crafts (Tuesdays 11:30-6:30), puzzle and trivia games (Thursdays 9-6:30),and free book Friday (Fridays 10-4:30).

STORY TIMES will continue through most of the summer (no registration necessary):
Monday-Babygarten 9am (birth-2-years)
Monday-Toddler Story time 11am (2-3-year-olds)
Tuesday-Story Time, 10:30am (3-6-year-olds)

STORYWALKS No registration required.
Summer Kickoff - June 11, 10am-3pm @ Green Lane Park
Follow our storywalk trail (counts as 40 minutes on your reading log!), sign up for summer reading at our table, make your own sea creature habitat (first 100 children), and take a chance on our lollipop tree.
July 16, 10am-3pm @ Green Lane Park
August 13, 10am-3pm @ Green Lane Park

BOOK CLUBS Registration required.
Lunch & a Story (6-8-year-olds) Mondays 12:30-1:15pm 6/27, 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, 8/1 & 8/8
Bring lunch and enjoy listening to a chapter or two of The Very, Very Far North by Dan Bar-el.

Donuts & a Book (9-12-year-olds) Thursdays, 10-10:45am 6/30, 7/28 & 8/18
Come out for a free donut and great conversation. Pick up a copy of the book and read it beforehand.

June 29 Join us at the Wunderbarn in East Greenville for a fun Vaudeville story time and craft. (Located at 2927 Kutztown Road, East Greenville, PA.)

BINOCULAR CRAFT & HIKE (3-8-year-olds) Registration required.

July 27 Meet us at Green Lane Park (near the pirate ship off Green Lane Road) to make binoculars and go on a nature hike.

MORNING MOVIE at THE GRAND THEATER (all ages)
10am
Aug. 3 Join us in East Greenville to watch the movie Dolphin Tale. Free tickets must be picked up ahead at the library (limit of 100 guests).

And don't forget, we have the Discovery Science Room and offer free passes to the Elmwood Park Zoo and Fonthill Castle/Mercer Museum! Call the library to check availability.
